Last week I again wrote a column suggesting that Nevadans should hear and listen to BOTH sides of the Yucca Mountain debate. I didn’t advocate for Yucca Mountain; I advocated for open and honest discussion. But that is NOT what Yucca opponents want.

Not Such a Radical Notion

“Residents living near two nuclear power plants (in Wisconsin) told their elected representatives on Wednesday they don’t want to be a ‘dumping ground’ for radioactive waste,” reports the Manitowoc Herald Times Reporter. “But if the plants must store their waste on site, then towns should be compensated, residents said.”

The Yucca Mountain Gold Mine

OK, before Bob Loux - Nevada’s high-priced, taxpayer-funded anti-Yucca Mountain lobbyist - has a cow and again tries to misrepresent my position, for the record the purpose of this column is to open up the discussion, not advocate in favor of Yucca Mountain. Discussion is good, because as we all know there are two sides to every story.
